On autopilot on the motorway
Enjoy more freedom with your Mercedes-Benz when you're on the motorway. If you are travelling on a section of motorway approved for this purpose, DRIVE PILOT controls the vehicle's speed in traffic jams or heavy traffic at speeds of up to 95 km/h. It also maintains its distance to the vehicle in front and keeps your Mercedes-Benz safely in its lane. In addition, functions such as games, videos or editing e-mails are enabled on the central display. So that you reach your destination safely, more comfortably and with the highest level of assistance.
Your advantages at a glance
Activate DRIVE PILOT using the buttons on the steering wheel if you are travelling on a designated stretch of motorway at a speed of up to 95 km/h and there is a tailback or heavy traffic. A white light on the buttons indicates that you can activate DRIVE PILOT. When you press the buttons, the activation phase starts and is visualised by a pulsating turquoise light. When this lights up continuously, DRIVE PILOT is activated and you can take your hands off the steering wheel. Your Mercedes-Benz now controls the speed and safety distance, and keeps your vehicle in lane. For example, you can now work on emails, surf the Internet, play games or stream a film. However, you must be prepared to take control again at any time. The function can be deactivated by pressing one of the DRIVE PILOT buttons again. The availability of DRIVE PILOT depends on various road, environmental and traffic conditions. The functions that may be enabled depend on the road traffic regulations in force in the respective country.
Note on use
DRIVE PILOT is an SAE level 3 system and enables conditionally automated driving at speeds of up to 95 km/h subject to certain conditions being fulfilled, notably in heavy traffic or traffic jams on suitable, approved motorway sections in Germany. DRIVE PILOT does not relieve the driver of responsibility. The driver must be able to take control of the vehicle at any time when prompted to intervene by the vehicle. Please observe the notes in the operating instructions and the system limits described there.
After purchase, DRIVE PILOT must be activated in the Mercedes-Benz app. As part of the activation, customers are required to watch a training video. Once this is complete, the Digital Extra will then become available.
The availability and use of DRIVE PILOT on motorways depends on options, compatible wireless networks, applicable laws and other factors. The availability of DRIVE PILOT is subject to change at any time without prior notice. The terms of use for Digital Extras apply. Please refer to the Owner's Manual for further instructions and restrictions. DRIVE PILOT is only compatible with selected EQS Saloon and S-Class models that are equipped with DRIVE PILOT and the corresponding hardware. Please ask your service partner whether your vehicle is compatible.
