Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC is available in vehicles with the MBUX generation NTG7 multimedia system and requires a steering wheel with a button for controlling the assist system (5B0). Speed Limit Assist or Traffic Sign Assist are required in order to adopt speed limits.
The presented functions are dependent on the particular vehicle model, the individual configuration and the particular market.
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC
Helps you keep your distance: You select the desired distance to vehicles in front – DISTRONIC controls the speed of your vehicle.
At a glance
- Choose the speed you want to drive at and select your preferred distance to other vehicles from several levels (in a speed range from 0 to 160 km/h, depending on the situation)
- Depending on the selected drive program, accelerate more quickly or more slowly to the speed you want to drive at
- Accept detected speed limits at the push of a button on the steering wheel
Stay comfortably in the flow
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC helps you keep your distance to vehicles in front. You choose the speed and distance – your Mercedes assists you when braking and accelerating. This keeps you in the flow, and you only intervene when the traffic situation requires it.
Your advantages at a glance
Choose the speed you want to drive at in moving or queuing traffic – always keeping the same distance to vehicles in front. Choose the speed you want to drive at and select your preferred distance to other vehicles from several levels. Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC maintains this distance and automatically adapts your speed to slower-moving vehicles ahead. You decide whether to drive gently or faster by selecting the drive program. The distance can be visualised on the display if required. If the vehicle is fitted with the necessary equipment, you can also adopt detected speed limits at the push of a button on the steering wheel.
Note on use
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC may be restricted or not function in certain situations. The driver may therefore have to adjust the speed himself/herself if necessary – including in difficult ambient conditions such as an unclear road course, wet conditions, snow and ice, or when driving with a trailer. The driver should deactivate Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, by braking if necessary, in the following situations: on bends; when entering and exiting bends; when vehicles are driving in an offset formation; in the case of narrow vehicles, obstacles or stationary vehicles; if there are crossing road users; when other vehicles are changing lanes.
The following factors may restrict detection by the radar sensor system: sensors obscured by dirt, snowfall or heavy rain; disruption by other radar sources; strong radar reflection, e.g. in multi-storey car parks.
Our driver assistance and safety systems are aids and do not relieve you of your responsibility as the driver. Please take note of the information in the Owner's Manual and the system limits which are described therein.
