Intelligent lighting that shows you the way
Light doesn't just illuminate the road ahead – it can provide you with information, warnings or guidance. The pioneering functions of DIGITAL LIGHT literally show you the way: guide lines, symbols and animations appear as lights on the road, directly ahead of you. In roadworks with narrow lanes for example, orientation is much easier thanks to intelligent markings that represent the approximate width of the vehicle. Use the Spotlight function to keep an eye on pedestrians in the danger zone and to recognise in which direction they are moving – without them being dazzled. A corresponding symbol also warns you prior to driving through a red light or past stop signs as well as driving in the opposite direction to the permissible direction of travel.
Your advantages at a glance
With the projection functions of DIGITAL LIGHT you benefit from a digitally enhanced driving experience. The additional information is visible, directly in front of your eyes – in the form of real light projections on the carriageway. These are shown while the vehicle is moving at speeds of 30 km/h and above. As the legal requirements regarding which projection functions are allowed differ depending on the country, geofencing is already integrated. This ensures that the functions of DIGITAL LIGHT are automatically adapted to comply with valid regulations when you cross a national border.
Product information
In order to use all the functions of this service, it is a prerequisite that the following codes are installed in the vehicle:
P35 Spotlight technology Digital light
30U projection function via spotlight
42U Projection function via headlights – Symbols.
43U Projection function via spotlight – Animation. Availability is dependent on model series and software version.
For the vehicles that are not equipped with code 42U from the factory, it is only possible to receive a welcome animation when unlocking/locking the vehicle, - Symbols on the road while driving are unfortunately not available. Contact your Mercedes-Benz service workshop if you have any further questions.
Currently, the projection features are available with parts of their scope in the US, EU, China and the Persian Gulf countries, subject to local permit regulations (as of June 2021)
