Traffic Sign Assist
Keep an eye on speed limits, no-overtaking signs and selected other traffic regulations at all times. This assistant can use camera images and map data to recognise what you need to pay attention to – and display it in MBUX.
At a glance
- Display of speed limits, no-overtaking signs and the lifting of these restrictions in MBUX
- Comparison with current driving speed and deactivatable warning if the current speed limit is exceeded
- Red traffic lights, stop signs and give-way signs can be recognised, and you can receive a warning if you inadvertently drive through them
- Pedestrians at zebra crossings can be recognised, and you can receive a warning for this
- Wrong-way driving can be recognised, and you can receive a warning for this
Keeps an eye on traffic regulations for you
Whether you're on the road in a new city or on long motorway journeys with monotonous sections and roadworks – keep an eye on everything amid the confusion. Traffic Sign Assist clearly shows you which rules are in force in MBUX and, if available, the head-up display. It can use camera images to recognise speed-limit signs, no-overtaking signs and the lifting of these restrictions. Its attentive eye also takes into account variable speed limits and additional restrictive signs, e.g. for certain weather conditions or times of day. It can also recognise red traffic lights and stop signs and then warn you if you inadvertently drive through them or drive down a road the wrong way. If your vehicle is equipped with DIGITAL LIGHT, the warning for red traffic lights and stop signs is also projected onto the road as a light symbol at night. It gives you additional assistance for anticipatory driving at marked pedestrian crossings: If pedestrians want to cross the road there, it will draw your attention to this.
Your advantages at a glance
While driving, the networked Traffic Sign Assist system analyses the camera images and can recognise certain traffic signs and traffic light signals. It also evaluates the route you are currently taking based on navigation data, e.g. if signposting is sparse in less built-up areas. In addition to displaying speed limits and no-overtaking signs, Traffic Sign Assist can warn you in certain situations: with an audible and visual warning signal if you inadvertently drive through recognised stop signs or red traffic lights, or drive the wrong way when a no-entry sign is recognised; with an audible and visual warning signal if pedestrians are near recognised pedestrian crossings; with an audible and visual warning signal if you exceed the speed limit. If your vehicle is equipped with Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, you can easily stay within the recognised speed limits.
